there let your presence be felt...

“We can’t all do all things. Circumstances, available time, and talents vary widely among us. Your diversities take you to numerous arenas of activity. There let your presence be felt. . . .
You can--you must--make a difference. You are vital to the Lord’s team--one team with one purpose. Through your diversity, build strength in unity. Bind yourselves together in all holiness. Anchor yourselves to “the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Eph. 2:20)....”

Favorite Modest Clothing from Journey Five {Summer 2018 Edition}

I've been dying over the new arrivals on Journey Five!  I've rounded up my very favorites. If your wardrobe is needing a little update this summer, you'll want to keep reading!

Shorts I just love these darling cutoffs, and they come in 3 different colors!

Truth be told, I have a thing for dresses. Like so much so, when my daughter was 5 she asked me if moms were only allowed to wear dresses in the summer (because that's all I wore!) Haha. But they are SO comfy!! Here are my current favorite dresses:

The Caden Pocket dress comes in these two darling colors (pictured above and below) and I'm soooo tempted to buy both of them.

Harper Hi Low Dress Um how comfy and cute is this?!

Lydia Button Down Dress So lovely! Love this shade of pink, too!

Mid Chambray Dress  Oh I don't think I'll ever get tired of Chambray. It's so easy to dress up or down.

Laney Embroidered Dress- the detail is a-maz-ing!

Annabell Embroidered Dress- available in 2 colors and the embroidery is beautiful!

And lastly these hurache sandals have all the heart eyes!

Which items are your favorite summer finds??

Desired Blessings

Desired blessings come only by obedience to divine law, and in no other way. My lifetime thus far has been focused on learning those laws. Only as the laws are known, and then obeyed, can the blessings we desire be earned. The endless laws of the Lord are the doctrines taught by His Apostles.
Russell M. Nelson

Spiritual Power Line

Our spiritual power line is strengthened through prayer. As we counsel with God in all our doings, he will direct us for good. (See Alma 37:37.) Prayer is available whenever we ask for it!

But the Lord places the initiative upon us. He expects us to reach for his power, just as we must insert the plug in the outlet for electricity. He said, “If thou shalt ask, thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things—that which bringeth joy, that which bringeth life eternal.” (D&C 42:61).  Personal worthiness and scripture study enable us to do more with this power.

Son of God

Our oldest and only son turned 12 yesterday. (I swear he just started kindergarten yesterday! How am I registering him for 7th grade now?! Cue the tears!!)

He is such a great guy and we are so grateful he is ours and for the good choices he is making.
I loved President Monson's talk, A Sacred Trust, from General Conference. It is a great talk for ALL Priesthood and future Priesthood holders. But it's especially great for 12 year olds because it is short, sweet and to the point and full of the Spirit.

I took this quote (pictured above) and designed a print that we could hang up in his room, where he can see it everyday and hopefully always remember who he is and whose he is (because it is so easy to forget).

I've added the digital print to the my etsy shop. Check it out here and get one for the boys in your life!

When self-doubts descend upon me or hurt feelings, disappointment, irritation, or fear rise up, I turn my thoughts to the power of the Savior and tell myself, "The Lord is mightier than all the earth, then why not mightier than whatever I am fearing?" He will lead me to do what I can, and He will enlarge my abilities, raise up another to help, or give me calm ideas or deeper understanding as I must keep on trusting Him, praying, opening scriptures with a searching heart.

However late you think you are...

However late you think you are, however many chances you think you have missed, however many mistakes you feel you have made or talents you think you don’t have, or however far from home and family and God you feel you have traveled, I testify that you have not traveled beyond the reach of divine love. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ’s Atonement shines.

Stop comparing...

Please, my beloved brothers and sisters, we must stop comparing ourselves to others.
We torture ourselves needlessly by competing and comparing. We falsely judge our self-worth by the things we do or don’t have and by the opinions of others. If we must compare, let us compare how we were in the past to how we are today—and even to how we want to be in the future. The only opinion of us that matters is what our Heavenly Father thinks of us. Please sincerely ask Him what He thinks of you. He will love and correct but never discourage us; that is Satan’s trick.
Elder J. Devn Cornish

Reserved and Preserved...

The Lord has more in mind for you than you have in mind for yourself! You have been reserved and preserved for this time and place. …

The Lord needs you to change the world. As you accept and follow His will for you, you will find yourself accomplishing the impossible!
President Russell M. Nelson

Brothers and sisters, God has important work for each of us. Speaking to sisters but teaching truths that apply to all, President Spencer W. Kimball taught: “Before we came [to earth, we] were given certain assignments. … While we do not now remember the particulars, this does not alter the glorious reality of what we once agreed to.” What an ennobling truth! Our Heavenly Father has specific and significant things for you and me to accomplish (see Ephesians 2:10). These divine assignments are not reserved for a privileged few but are for all of us—regardless of gender, age, race, nationality, income level, social status, or Church calling. Every one of us has a meaningful role to play in furthering God’s work (see Moses 1:39). Some of us question whether Heavenly Father can use us to make important contributions. But remember, He has always used ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things (see 1 Corinthians 1:27–28; D&C 35:13; 124:1). “[We] are agents,” and “the power is in [us]” to “bring to pass much righteousness” (D&C 58:27–28). By Elder John C. Pingree Jr.

Creation itself...

[This] variety of creation itself is a testament of how the Lord values all His children. He does not esteem one flesh above another, but He “inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; … all are alike unto God.”

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

Wings to Fly...

The women in our lives are creatures endowed with particular qualities, divine qualities, which cause them to reach out in kindness and with love to those about them. We can encourage that outreach if we will give them opportunity to give expression to the talents and impulses that lie within them. In our old age my beloved companion said to me quietly one evening, “You have always given me wings to fly, and I have loved you for it.”
Gordon B. Hinckley

Finishers Wanted

It has been said that the doorways of history turn on small hinges, and so do people’s lives. We are constantly making small decisions. The outcome determines the success or failure of our lives. That is why it is worthwhile to look ahead, set a course, and at least be partly ready when the moment of decision comes. True finishers have the capacity to visualize their objective.
Thomas S. Monson

Expecting a trouble-free life because...

Expecting a trouble-free life because you are a good person is like expecting the bull not to charge you because you are a vegetarian.

When these difficult days (and nights!) come—and they will—it will help us to remember that “it must needs be,” that in the grand councils of heaven before the world was, we agreed to such a time of challenge and refinement. We were taught then that facing, resolving, and enduring troublesome times was the price we would pay for progress. And we were committed to progress eternally. . . .
Thus, even though on some days we might wish it otherwise, it is essential that our temporal journey be laced with all kinds of choices and alternatives, opportunities and obstacles, exhilarating highs and sometimes devastating lows. . . .
Yes, there will be stress and sorrow in life, and we will not always get the answers from heaven we prefer, but God will always give the answer we need—and with it He will give both strength and spiritual solace in all our times of trouble. || Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

The World's greatest champion of woman

The world’s greatest champion of woman and womanhood is Jesus the Christ.
Elder James E. Talmage

My dear sisters, we believe in you. We believe in and are counting on your goodness and your strength, your propensity for virtue and valor, your kindness and courage, your strength and resilience. We believe in your mission as women of God. We realize that you are the emotional (and sometimes spiritual) glue that holds families and often ward families together. We believe that the Church simply will not accomplish what it must without your faith and faithfulness, your innate tendency to put the well-being of others ahead of your own, and your spiritual strength and tenacity. And we believe that God’s plan is for you to become queens and to receive the highest blessings any woman can receive in time or eternity
Of this you may be certain: The Lord especially loves righteous women—women who are not only faithful but filled with faith, women who are optimistic and cheerful because they know who they are and where they are going, women who are striving to live and serve as women of God.

Slow Down, Focus on the Significant...

We would do well to slow down a little, proceed at the optimum speed for our circumstances, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes, and truly see the things that matter most.

As we turn to our Heavenly Father and seek His wisdom regarding the things that matter most, we learn over and over again the importance of four key relationships: with our God, with our families, with our fellowman, and with ourselves. As we evaluate our own lives with a willing mind, we will see where we have drifted from the more excellent way. The eyes of our understanding will be opened, and we will recognize what needs to be done to purify our heart and refocus our life.

No eye has seen, no ear has conceived...

No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared
for those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9

Trust in God, and “out of small things [will come] that which is great." Now, you may be thinking, “Yes, Elder Uchtdorf, that’s all very nice for you. But you are an Apostle. I’m not like that. I’m not important to God. My prayers are not answered. My life is not directed. If there is a plan for me it’s a thrift store version. A hand-me-down plan. A pat-on-the-head-just-be-content-with-what-you-have plan... He knew the end from the beginning when I did not. I could not see the future, but He could. Even during those times of hardship when I thought I was abandoned, He was with me—I see that now. || Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
